Michael Mueller It's unusual for an ambient album to posses distinctly jazzy elements, but this one certainly does. And it's all the better for it.

The keyed swathes of aural cloud are beautiful, with snippets of delicate melody layered above and within.

But it's the skittering, pattering drums that and to this supine mix a sense of tension and restlessness, albeit one that drifts in and out, seemingly at random, while washes of static add intimacy and distance.

With Transversal, the duo Setter proposes a photogram-like musical concept. The idea behind this technique is to capture an image without actually using a camera, just by placing objects on a sensible surface and by exposing it to the daylight.

The main purpose of this first EP is to convey a form of light through musical matter without knowing its origin. The EP is composed of 4 tracks which all create a contemplative soundscape bathed in flashes of light : a speechless dimension in which the listener pulled towards a dense and palpable musical matter. By mixing samples, field recording synthesizers and acoustic sources, Setter conveys a physical experience of light. If the sounds seem to bounce off the walls of an entity folded on itself, the idea is well and truly to interact with an external soundscape and not the other way around.
